Edge wallet: New features and easy upgrade path for Athena app users!

Great news! The same developers behind the Athena Bitcoin wallet released the Edge wallet earlier this year. Built from the ground up, Edge provides the long-awaited Segwit compatibility for Bitcoin which decreases the network fee you pay when sending Bitcoin transactions. In addition, Edge has been designed to support multiple different cryptocurrencies within the same app! You may create internal wallets for the following coins:

Bitcoin (BTC) + Segwit
Litecoin (LTC)
Ripple (XRP)
Bitcoin Gold (BTG)
Feathercoin (FTC)

Bitcoin Cash (BCH)
Monero (XMR)
Qtum (QTUM)
Vertcoin (VTC)
UFO (UFO)

Ethereum (ETH)
Dash (DASH)
Digibyte (DGB)
Zcoin (XZC)
...and virtually any ERC-20 token on Ethereum! (Instructions)

Edge makes it easy for particular coin developers to add support for their coin to the Edge wallet, and we expect more to be added in the future. Individual users, however, can add internal wallets for only the coins they want to use.

Another great feature of Edge that they have is a two-factor authentication (2FA) option in Settings that prevents another device from logging into your account even if they have your full username and password! Attempts to bypass the 2FA will send your device an alert that you can override within 7 days. This is a great added security feature (brought over from the Airbitz/Athena app) that we recommend everyone use along with making a complete written backup of their username and password.

Edge now supports password recovery (if you enable it first!), extended public key exports (for those who need POS functionality or who watch their balances elsewhere), full transaction history exports for each internal wallet, and master private key backups for advanced users who want added peace of mind.

We now recommend that all Athena Bitcoin app users download Edge and login to it with the exact same username and password you are using with the Athena app.

You can install the Edge app alongside the Athena app and see which one you like better. Both apps should show your current Bitcoin balance and your entire transaction history. Edge will let you create a Segwit Bitcoin wallet as well for less expensive Bitcoin transactions, not to mention compatibility with the list of coins above.
